🧩 Definition of Exposition text

Exposition text is a text to persuasive and trying to convince the reader or listener or a text that can produce pros and cons for the author.

This text is usually contain important issues that are being discussed.

🧩 Exposition text Special features

Text  that is classified as an exposition text is sometimes also known as argumentative text, because this text will be dominated by the author's arguments and that is the characteristic that distinguishes the type of exposition text from other texts.

💭 Analytical Exposition

Analytical exposition is a type of exposition text that begins with a statement that shows the author's attitude, opinion, or position on the theme being discussed, then supported by various arguments and closes with an affirmation or restatement of the opinion stated at the beginning.

💭Hortatory Exposition

Hortatory exposition is a type of exposition text that begins with a statement containing the issue or problem that is raised as the theme of the writing.

Then it is supported by various arguments and supporting evidence that can lead the reader to the author's point of view. Finally, the text will close with suggestions or recommendations from the author on what should be done or happened related to the problem or issue presented at the beginning.

🧩 Structure text of Exposition text

To write an expository text, there are three structures that must be learned and applied in your writing.

 Among others are:

•  Thesis: This section will contain the issue or problem that will be raised, while in the analytical exposition this section will contain the position, opinion or attitude of the author.
• Argument: The section that contains the opinion or argument that the author begins to explain. Both hortatory exposition and analytical exposition have the same explanation in this section.
• Repetition: Repetition is the conclusion. Hortatory exposition will contain recommendations or suggestions from the author about the problem that is the theme of writing. As for the analytical exposition, this section will contain a restatement from the author.

In addition to the writing structure, there are linguistic elements that you need to pay attention to in writing expository texts. Among others are:

• Using the simple present tense.
• Many use conjunctions such as because, therefore, therefore, because, etc.
• Contains arguments.

 Analytical Exposition text is a text that elaborates the writer‘s idea about the phenomenon surrounding. An analytical exposition is a type of spoken or written text that is intended to persuade the listeners or readers that something is the case.

1. To make the persuasion stronger, the speaker or writer gives some arguments as the fundamental reasons why something is the case.

1. An analytical exposition focuses on generic human and non human participants.

2. It uses mental processes. It is used to state what the writer or speaker thinks or feels about something. For example: realize, feel etc. 

3. It uses emotive and evaluative words

4. It often needs material processes. It is used to state what happens, e.g. ....has polluted...etc.

5. It usually uses Simple Present Tense and Present Perfect Tense.

6. Enumeration is sometimes necessary to show the list of given arguments: Firstly, secondly ..., Finally, etc.

 2. A series of arguments to convince the audience (Arguments) : This part is significant to support about the thesis. Therefore, it needs some requirements. They are explained as follow. it  presents the reasons for concern, leading to recommendation.

3. Recommendation: statement of what should or should not happen or be done based on the given arguments. it presents the statement of what ought or ought not to happen.

 3. Temporal Connective

 We will refer to a temporal connective as an expression which relates an event to a point or an interval in time. For example: firstly, secondly, thirdly, etc.

Text 1 :

The Importance of Reading

Thesis: I personally think that reading is a very important activity in our life. Why do I say so?

Argument  I : Firstly, by reading we can get a lot of knowledge about many things in the world such as Science, technology, sports, arts, culture, etc written in either books, magazine, newspaper, etc.

Argument II: Secondly, by reading we can get a lot of news and information about something happening in any parts of the world which can we see directly.

Argument III: 5 Another reason, reading can give us pleasure too. When we are tired, we read books, novel, comic, newspaper or magazine on the entertainment column such as comedy, short story, quiz, etc. To make us relaxed.

Argument IV: The last, reading can also take us to other parts of the world. By reading a book about Irian Jaya we may feel we’re really sitting in the jungles not at home in our rooms. Recommendation: From the facts above, it’s obvious that everyone needs to read to get knowledge, information and also entertainment. Or in summary we can say reading is truly important in our life.

Watch Your Kid while Watching TV

Television becomes one of the most important devices, which takes place in almost houses. It can unite all members of the family as well as separate them. However, is it important to know what your kids are watching? The answer is, of course, absolutely "Yes" and that should be done by all parents. Television can expose things you have tried to protect the children from, especially violence, pornography, consumerism and so on.

Recently, a study demonstrates that spending too much time on watching TV during the day or at bedtime often causes bed-time disruption, stress, and short sleep duration.

Another research find that there is a significant relationship between the amount of time spent for watching television during adolescence and early adulthood, and the possibility of being aggressive.

Meanwhile, many studies have identified a relationship between kids who watch TV a lot and being inactive and overweight.

Considering some facts mentioning above, protect your children with the following tips:

Limit television viewing to one-two hours each day.  Do not allow your children to have a TV set in their own bedrooms 

Review the rating of TV shows which your children watch Watch television with your children and discuss what is happening in the show
